| Panhandle Groundwater
Conservation District Scholarship This scholarship was established
in 2002 by the Panhandle Groundwater Conservation District as part of
their education program.
Eligibility
- Graduating senior from the Panhandle Groundwater Conservation
District (Armstrong, Carson, Donley, Gray, Potter, Roberts, and
Wheeler Counties)
- Required to attach a 500-1,000 word essay, typed and double
spaced, on a conservation subject which will be selected each year
- Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA while in college
- Major in field of choice at college/university of choice

- 2006 essay subject; "With the lack rainfall and aquifer recharge
in the Texas Panhandle, do you believe that cities should enforce
stricter guidelines on water use? How could cities accomplish this
task?"

- Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Screening Committee
- Attach essay on current year subject
Scholarship Amount
- 1st Place - $4,000 ($1,000/yr. for 4 years)
- 2nd Place - $3,000 ($750/yr. for 4 years)
- 3rd Place - $2,000 ($500/yr. for 4 years)
- Renewable award pending committee review of renewal application
